Looking for a really awesome theme for your child’s birthday party? Plain ole birthday parties are a thing of the past. “What are you doing your party in?” is the question your child will no doubt be asked when word gets out he or she is having a birthday. For a great party, you need a great theme.

A theme helps the whole birthday celebration come together. It helps organize the invitations, decorations, games, activities, food, cake and party favors all into one package. Finding just the right theme can be tricky so it’s a good idea to put some thought behind it. This process can be made simple though, by following these easy steps.

The first thing you may want to do is to ask your child what he or she would like to do the party in. Before you do so, it is a good idea to do some homework so you can narrow down the choices. Since there is no telling what a six year old boy or a thirteen year old girl might come up with, left to his or her own imagination, giving a little guidance helps avoid frustration and disappointment that could arise otherwise.

What is your child’s favorite character? This is a great way to get ideas for a theme. A favorite cartoon, toy or book is often centered around a main character that might just make an awesome theme. Mickey Mouse, Dora the Explorer, Lightning McQueen and Cinderella are all fun character themes. You can also go online and visit birthday party sites for parties built around characters.

What activity is your child into? Does he or she have a favorite sport or thing he or she really likes to do? Activities like swimming, bowling or baseball are all great ideas for a party but you will want to make sure it is a practical theme. Unless you have access to a heated pool, a swim party in the dead of winter might prove a little tricky though it is possible to pull it off with a little imagination. Unless you are up to the challenge, when it comes to activities, stick with those that are practical.

Still stuck? Don’t be discouraged. Finding the perfect party theme not always instant but chances are it is right under your nose. Does your child have a favorite movie or a hobby of interest? Does he or she love a certain time era like the 60′s or 70′s? What is his or her favorite food or color? Brainstorming on your child’s likes and dislikes just might be the ticket to finding a great theme. Tye-dye parties, science parties, Hawaiian Luaus with all the trimmings are examples of parties centered around a central interest.

Going online to see themes that are available is another good idea. You might be surprised what ones you have overlooked. A John Deere tractor party might be custom made for your little boy or a Princess party just perfect for your girl. Dig around a little and surf the web, you are sure to find something that fits.

When you have decided on a theme, it is time for the fun part of planning and preparing for the big event. Involving your child is a great chance to bond and you may be surprised the creative input he or she just might add. Add personal touches when possible. A birthday party is an opportunity to show your child how unique and loved he or she is. Be sure to smell the roses along the way. The planning and preparation can be as fun as the actual party if you stop along the way to seize the moments. Remember, the things you do with and for your child today make the memories of tomorrow.

In order to throw a Hollywood party theme, you need to decide at an early stage exactly what kind of party you are going to host. You could have it based on a particular movie, on actors or even have an Oscars ceremony.

It is important though that which ever you decide to go for, you have to single mindedly create that one theme, excluding all other themes for it to be effective.

Get some cardboard for your invitations and cut out some Oscar statue shapes. Address them to the VIP.

Depending on what theme you have gone for your costumes will be of famous movie characters, stars or if your party is an Oscars ceremony, your guests should dress black tie. Ladies in this instance will be in their very best cocktail dresses.

Perhaps you can have an award for the best and worst costumes. Get some Oscar statues for this.

Have a red carpet leading up to your front door. When inside, greet your guests in front of a Hollywood backdrop where a photographer takes a glamour shot of your guests.

Some props you can easily get hold of could be; famous street signs such as Hollywood Boulevard or Broadway, glossy magazines, movie posters, movie props such as a Walther PPK and a directors chair.

For your music, you could play the soundtrack from your favourite movie. Otherwise consider classics such as Stardust and Singing in the Rain.

Consider hiring a waiter to serve the food. Simple finger buffet food will suffice.

The obvious choice of drink for your Hollywood \”A listers\” would be champagne. Place it in coolers around the room and have some of your props nearby. Your waiter could of course also serve the drinks!
